Scholarship Granting Organization for the - CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF SALINA 75% The money donated to the Scholarship Granting Organization for the Catholic Diocese of Salina is distributed to qualifying students across the Salina Diocese to help with the cost of education at their Catholic School. This year $137,877.48 was State Tax Credit Available awarded to help the education costs for 102 students! All About Responsibility Read About It! Here are some books to help you learn more about responsibility: •I Just Forgot by Mercer Mayer •But It’s Not My Fault by Julia Cook •The Paperboy by Dav Pilkey •The Pigsty by Mark Teague Practice It! Help your child practice responsibility by giving him/her special jobs! Let your child pick a special chore each week that they can be responsible for. Let them carry the groceries, wipe the counters or feed the pet! Talk About It! Here are some discussion points to help you talk about responsibility with your child: •What do you think responsibility means and why is it important? •Tell me about a time when it was hard to be responsible. •What is a way you would like to have more responsibility at home? •What are your responsibilities in the classroom and in our community? SMGS: Attention SMGS Marathon parents and participants...KWU has reached out to remind us of some of the KWU facility rules. No pets are allowed on or around the track and children are not permitted to play on or with any of their athletic equipment. We have been asked to not use strollers on the track. This is a change from what we initially communicated. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. However, we are fortunate to have the capability to use the KWU facilities and we want to be good stewards of their facilities. Thank you for abiding by their rules.

Classes run until 4:15 PM, offering a fantastic way for your kids to explore new interests and have fun after school. While Sports Fanatics Session I is now at capacity (it’s a hit!), we still have some amazing spots available in our other engaging programs: 🎲 Board Game Club - Perfect for strategy lovers and game enthusiasts, this club fosters critical thinking and teamwork in a fun, interactive setting. 🎶 Choir - Let your child’s musical talents shine! AFTER CLASS ENRICHMENT (ACE) PROGRAM BEGINS AUGUST 26TH!

SMGS: St. Mary's Grade School’s approach to discipline emphasizes its roots in spirituality, viewing misbehavior holistically and using it as an opportunity for students to build virtue and faith. SMGS: By fostering an environment of accountability and restoration, students are encouraged to reflect on their actions, repair relationships, and learn how to rectify harm, which supports their moral development. To help aid in this mission, St. Mary's Grade School will implement Virtues Based Restorative Discipline with students beginning this school year. There will be a focus on a different virtue each month to enhance student growth, and parents will be notified via the app of any ways they can support our mission at home.

Please join us on Aug. 26th @ 7:15am at the KWU track for the School Marathon Kick - Off. A couple things to remember about the marathon. - Each participant needs to run 4 laps each day - Monday thru Thursday, Fridays will only be used if there is a rain out day earlier in the week! - KDG participants must be accompanied by a parent. - If a participant misses a day they can make it up on their own and bring a note. - Strollers are permitted on the track. - Students must wait for an adult to cross at the crosswalk. Marathon begins at 7:20am every day except the Kick off on Aug. 26th, and Finale on Oct. 3rd, start time will be 7:15am on those days.

SCS Families, For clear and timely communication regarding your student’s activities and involvement, we ask that you enroll in the appropriate group notifications through our mobile app. This includes grade level, academic, extra-curricular, and athletic group notifications. This will be used by staff, coaches, and school leaders to share important updates specific to your child’s activities. (Ex. if you have a 5th grader who participates in Extended Care and Band, you would select to receive notifications about 5th grade, Extended Care, and Band.) Here's how it works: Open SCS app and select: > Menu in the bottom left > Settings icon in the bottom right > Notification preferences > Groups > Select all that apply > Tap 'Save' and you're all set!

SMGS ACE (After Class Enrichment) program starts next week, August 26th! We are currently taking enrollment forms and will until the month of September. In October we will send out the enrollment forms again for our second session classes for those interested in signing up. A few highlights from our class options: -the Honor Choir will perform once a week at our school Mass along with additional performances. -the Drama Club will be working on a performance that will be presented at the end of the semester. -STARBASE is a free program and will be testing out new drones that the program just received. Our classes are filling up quickly so don't hesitate to submit your application and reach out if you have any questions!
