EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

A serious emergency has never occurred at SMGS; however, we certainly want to be ready if one should occur. We follow the state’s Emergency Preparedness Drills as outlined by Senate Bill 128. Over the course of the year we will practice fire, tornado and crisis drills. As part of our crisis management plan we will practice intruder alerts, lockdown drills, building evacuations, and heighten security situations.

As you can see we take the safety of our students and drills seriously. Each student should know how and where to exit each classroom and the building. When the alarm or signal sounds, students must walk quickly to the assigned areas. In case of any kind of disaster -- tornado, fire, or any other kind of misfortune -- we will keep your children until it is possible for you to call for them or give us directions.  Your children's safety will have top priority as far as the school is concerned. We do ask that useless calls be avoided so that lines can be held open for emergency calls only.
